In August we will be traveling to Tuscaloosa to photograph the wedding of Jessica and Keith. Over the weekend I had the opportunity of shooting their engagement portraits on the campus of the University of Alabama. We got so many great shots, despite the fact that Keith is an Auburn graduate and didn't particularly like the idea of the Alabama buildings being in the background. Anyway, he did well and as you can see, they are both quite photogenic, which always makes my job easier. I decided to make a quick slideshow from the day which you can view by clicking here.

Lori and Shane
Last week I got the chance to spend some time with Lori and Shane. They are getting married this June and we are excited about working with them. I've gotten to know this family over the years, ever since I shot her sister Kerri's senior portraits. Since then I've shot Lori's seniors, and will be shooting Kerri's wedding next month. I will be forever thankful for the confidence they have put in us, and the opportunity of being there for these special times.

New Fine Art Books
I'm super excited about this new product. When the FedEx truck came this morning I was like a kid at Christmas time because I couldn't wait to see it. This is our 8x10 fine art book that has recently been made available by our lab. This example is from a senior portrait, but they can be created from any type of session. The metallic dust jacket is super cool but optional. Other cover styles are available and the books can accomodate 20-40 pages. If you would like more information, or to see this sample in person, just give us a call or stop by the studio anytime.

Alexy!
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing one of my all-time favorite subjects, Alexy. I've known her since she was about 4 years old and I've done her dance portraits for quite some time. In addition to being very photogenic, she also happens to be a very talented dancer. I must say I was very flattered when she and her family asked me to photograph her QuinceaƱera ceremony and reception in June. We are especially excited about being there for this very special occasion....thank you Alexy!

Bittersweet...
Sunday we held Payne's dedication ceremony at our church. This has always been a very moving experience for me. To me it's a way of reinforcing my role as a Father, which I take very seriously. This just reminds me of just how serious it is. Our special thanks to our friends Michelle and Kara for the beautiful song, to Brother Alan for performing the ceremony, and to the congregation for their support.
Now, if I may share this very personal story with you:
When I first found out Michelle was pregnant with Payne, all kinds of doubts went through my mind. I didn't know if I had what it takes to be the father that I need to be to three children. Sometimes I admit it's still overwhelming. When Jackson was born, I cried. When Sylvie was born, I cried again. But when Payne was born I didn't cry, because God had reassured me, in the way that He always does, that everything was going to be alright.
Sunday was also the last day for our Pastor, Alan Hughes, who will be taking a church in Georgia. He has been such a wonderful inspiration to me and our entire church. I've tried forever to get him to start blogging his messages....maybe someday he will.
Alan, Heather, Will, and Walker...you will truly be missed.

Melissa and Robi
We are very excited about working with Melissa and Robi who are getting married this May. I've known Robi for a little while and I'm still trying to figure out how he convinced her to marry him....just kidding Robi. Anyway they are a fun (and photogenic) couple so we know this is going to be an awesome wedding. The strange thing is, he is from Crossville and she is from Geraldine. In case you don't know, that's like an Alabama graduate getting married to an Auburn graduate. It just doesn't happen...well not often anyway.

Wow!
Well Studio B picture week is behind us, which only means that now the real work begins. It seems like forever since I've posted anything, and I apologize to all four of you who read my blog. Anyway, last weekend was awesome. I got to see Grayce again, who rolled over for the very first time in my studio. Then I met a new friend Reagan who came all the way from Lincoln Alabama to see me, and by the way she loves to eat feathers. Then Princess Brooklyn, who just happens to be a photographer's dream come true, graced my studio with her presence. Needless to say I had a really great weekend.
