Happy Birthday Payne...and Carter!

Well Payne is officially one month old today...but not until 9:30 tonight according to Michelle. As it turns out, I shot portraits of my friend Nichole's baby Carter today and he was born on the same day as Payne. Happy birthday Payne and Carter. Here is a photo of each baby...can you tell which is which?

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS...

Well it's almost football season, and here in the south you can feel the excitement. My favorite high school team, the Boaz Pirates, will be kicking off their season against Arab on Thursday, August 31. I'll be on the sidelines trying to capture some of the action as I have for the past five years. Hopefully it will be a good, safe year for everyone.

GOOD LUCK PIRATES!

THE BACK SIDE OF 30

Well, today's me birthday...and I'm celebrating! I'm celebrating by thinking of all the incredible people I have surrounding me. My beautiful, amazing wife Michelle, my THREE awesome kids, Jackson, Sylvie, and Payne...not to mention a host of great friends and family members. If I started to call names, I would leave someone out, and I don't want to do that, but you all know who you are.

I am such a blessed person it's UNbelieveable.

Your Daily Challenge: See how long you can go today without having a negative thought.
That's too easy!

THE HIGH ROAD

Lately I've been letting a few things get to me to such an extent that it affects my family time. I've made the decision not to let that happen again. If I take the high road and treat people like I want to be treated, then I will always win...no matter what anyone does or says. I've been thinking lately about a really awesome book "The Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews. In the book Andy talks about how it's our decisions that define us. One of the decisions we can make is to be happy. We are ulitmately in control of our own happiness or lack thereof. We simply have to decide. Today I have decided to be happy.

I've also heard Andy talk about the people we surround ourselves with. Most people say that in a relationship they look for someone who "accepts me for who I am." That's such incredible GARBAGE to believe. Think about it. Do you REALLY want someone as a friend who accepts you for who you are? The kid at the drive thru window accepts you for who you are! I want a friend who will call me to the carpet and hold me accountable, and thus make me BETTER than who I am. I want someone who will applaude me when I do well, but also thump me when I don't.

My friend Kelly Ray told Michelle that she was missing the Daily Challenge...so here it is...your daily challenge for the day:

Think of someone who is still alive who has had a profound, postive impact on your life. Make it a point TODAY to personally thank that person.

Let me know how it goes!

SUCCESSFULL SURGERY!
Jackson's surgery was today and everything went quite well. He was actually quite excited about it. Once they got him back into surgery it only took the doctor about 30 minutes. Afterwords, Jackson was really tired and a little nauseated, but already feeling better. He should be back to normal in a few days.

Thanks to everyone who came by, called, and helped.

WE LOVE YOU!

First Day of School!

I don't know where the summer went...but it's gone. Now Jackson is officially a third grader, and Sylvie starts Kindergarten. I can hardly believe it.

ANNA AND JUSTIN...

Tomorrow we will have the privilege of shooting Anna and Justin's wedding in Birmingham at the Trinity UMC Church. I shot Anna's seniors when she graduated high school and have gotten to know her and her mom quite well. Justin, you are one lucky guy my friend.

I'm sooooo looking forward to this wedding because they are such an amazing couple and so much fun to work with.

Check back on Monday for the wedding slideshow!
